About
I am a multi-instrumental musician and professional music tutor with a background in contemporary art, now based in Langport, Somerset. I am passionate about all the arts, as well as music and nature.
Before relocating to Somerset, I was a private music tutor in South-West London for over ten years, specialising in piano, but also teaching a number of other instruments. I also have experience in curriculum-based classroom teaching alongside group and individual lessons within various local schools.
I am confident teaching any age and experience but am particularly passionate about helping musicians find their feet within their chosen musical ventures, as well as encouraging pupils to challenge their potential, through regular performances and in practice. I have sat numerous pupils through classical grades and helped others overcome nerves to play at their first public shows.
Alongside my teaching career, I also perform regularly as an outrageous, honky-tonk cowboy in The Swamp Stomp String Band. We play numerous high profile shows and festivals, as well as touring many music venues across the UK. Also, back in 2013, I co-founded Folking Around, an acoustic showcase night promoting and supporting contemporary folk and acoustic music in South West London.
My many years of musical experience, both performing and also running music events, have helped to develop my teaching styles, from folk and rock to classical and jazz, tailoring each lesson to individual pupils.
I consider myself to be a forward-thinking, friendly, relaxed, and positive teacher and am now actively seeking new students in Langport and the surrounding Somerset Levels to start lessons in September 2023.
